How to Register & Policies
Registration Form

  • Prices include all materials and applicable taxes.
  • There will be no classes on the August 1 Civic Holiday.
  • Grade level refers to grade student is entering in Fall 2011.
  • Courses are listed in chronological order.
  • Lunch supervision is included for full-day registrants, and is available for $30 per week for half-day students.
  • After-class care available until 5:30 pm at $40 per week.
  • Please familiarize yourself with our registration policies.

Landscape Painting (Gr. 6-9)

July 4-8, 9:00 am-12:00 pm

This course is for students who enjoy the beauty and excitement of the outdoors. Using a variety of materials, including an assortment of paint, pens, pastels and papers, participants will venture outdoors to create preliminary landscape sketches. The class will revisit these sketches in the studio to arrive at a completed landscape painting.

Architecture: Design & Create your own Space (Gr. 4-9)

Imagine a place to call your own! Using multimedia techniques, students will explore the fundamentals of architectural design: bringing his or her unique idea of what a special space would be like, from an abstract concept to a clear representation of that idea in model and drawing form.

While experimenting with an exciting variety of the artist's tools, media and techniques, students will learn to explore and trust their imaginations and creative instincts. Working from still life, photographs and images from art history, students will be introduced to drawing and painting fundamentals and techniques. These include line, value, shape, pattern, texture, shading, highlighting, colour perspective and collage. Young artists will further develop their artistic skills while discovering their own personal style.

Painting & Mixed Media (Gr. 4-8)

July 11-15, 9:00 am-12:00 pm

The use of colour and painting techniques are the focus in this mixed media class, where students will create vibrant and imaginative 2- and 3-dimensional works of art. Students will playfully explore an exciting combination of tools and materials while focusing on fun painting techniques. Colour mixing, blending, form, balance, composition, contrasts and harmonies are considered, while students learn about the tools associated with tempera, acrylics and watercolour paints.

Clay Creations (Gr. 4-8)

July 11-15, 1:00-4:00 pm

Explore the fun and creative medium of clay! Clay sculptors will develop and refine a variety of hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling, slab construction and modeling. During the course of the week, students will put the finishing touches on their clay pieces, incorporating their own designs and patterns and using bright, colourful glazes. No previous experience is necessary.

Cartooning & Illustration (Gr. 3-6)

Learn to draw fun and unique cartoon characters and creatures. As you create your own comic strip, you will learn how to draw funny faces, strange aliens and hilarious animals. Create your own action book using animation techniques.

Jewelry Design Workshop (Gr. 4-8)

July 18-22, 1:00-4:00 pm

If you've always wanted to design your own jewelry and accessories, this workshop will provide the opportunity to bring many techniques and materials together in a fun and unique way. Learning to work with wire, beads, metal, found and natural objects, students begin to understand the process from ideas to the finished piece.

Exploring Musical Theatre (Gr. 4-8)

July 18-22, 9:00 am-12:00 pm

Students will enjoy exploring drama and musical theatre in this performance-based week. Using improvisation, drama exercises, vocal and dance studies and script work, performers will develop and work on creating a final show for their last class. Parents and friends will enjoy the final presentation, which will incorporate popular numbers from musical theatre, in a truly unique and inventive presentation.

Discover your own personal style and individual expression while learning the techniques needed for creating a portrait painting. Learn how shape, dimension, measuring properties, shading/highlighting and colour mixing apply to the human form. Subject matter will include drawings, photographs and a live, clothed model.

Acting for Film & TV (Gr. 4-8)

So you've always wanted to be on television! Well get ready to strut your stuff during this fun-filled week. From improv to monologues and scene study, students will explore acting for the camera in this supportive workshop geared to the beginner or more advanced student. Young actors will receive a DVD of their work within a few weeks of the completion of the class.
