Using the Photographic Image in your Work

Here is a rare opportunity to participate in a workshop that will help you use photographic images as your subject matter, in a very comprehensive and detailed way. Participants will experience an inspiring lecture on what to look for in a good photographic image and learn how this accomplished artist uses photography in her own painted work. Students will learn how to get their image down on paper without needing any previous drawing skills. In the end, students will have an opportunity to create a monotone painting of the image using watercolour paint.

The Landscape Painter's Workshop

This intensive workshop is designed for students with previous painting experience, who are interested in further developing their skills in landscape studies. Working from a photo reference, students will hone their abilities, incorporating studies in composition, perspective, fore-/mid-/background and landmark representation, colour mixing and paint application to achieve harmony, contrast and a sense of depth. Students may choose to paint in either oils or acrylics.
